About I CAN parent

I can parent. You can parent. We can parent.

There’s no such thing as a perfect parent. We’re here to share practical help, encouragement and ideas so we can all find our way together.

I CAN parent is an independent parenting website for the baby days, the toddler years, school life and the changes that come with raising teenagers. Our starting point is simple: useful support should help you feel more able to take the next step.

You belong here

Parents and carers come to family life in different ways. You might be parenting on your own, sharing care, raising a child as a relative, fostering or adopting. Your household, experiences and support needs may look different from those of the family next door.

When we say “we can parent”, we mean there is room for support. It is not a promise that one tip will solve every problem, or an expectation that you should manage everything yourself.

What you will find

  • Practical articles with small ideas to try in everyday life.
  • Free worksheets you can copy, print and adapt.
  • Links to established organisations when you want further information or support.

How we approach advice

We aim to use plain language, explain where information comes from and make room for different families. Suggestions are starting points, not tests of whether you are a good parent. Adapt them to your child’s needs and your circumstances.

Our content provides general information. It does not replace individual advice from a qualified professional, and this website is not a helpline.

An independent new website

I CAN parent is not affiliated with the former CANparent programme or the CANparent Quality Mark. We do not award that accreditation. You can read about the former quality mark on the Coram Family Lives website.

You do not need to have all the answers to belong here. A question, a small idea or a little encouragement is a place to begin.
